NYMA
by Vanessa Martín Quintana
It will be available both as an ebook and a coffee table book. Nyma is illustrated with photographs by Bruno Baumann, renowned photographer and Tibet expert, taken over 3 decades of travels in the most sacred region in Tibet.
Foreword by Pema Jetsun, activist, writer and sister of the 14th Dalai Lama.
Nyma is the story of a small Tibetan dog who meets a 10-year-old girl named Luna and her father Bruno, both explorers, in the holy region of Kailash, known as the center of the universe; a place full of legends, magic landscapes, and unique animals. After Nyma meets the explorers, she decides to live with them, but when she realizes she has never known of a Tibetan who left Tibet, she wonders if this will be possible for her. To seek the truth, she begins a journey around the region, where she encounters different animals such as the yaks, the chiru, and the black necked crane among others, who will help her to know more about her country and what happened there a long time ago. She will learn what life means for Tibetans and that only if she is brave, she will be free.
This is the first time ever that a modern book on Tibet is written using Tibetan landscapes, myths, culture, and history to amuse children while creating a multilayered allegory that adults will love.
If you like The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry or the narrative of different stories within a story that you can find in Arabian nights, you will like his book.
CARAVAN OF NO RETURN
by Bruno Baumann
To commemorate the 20 years since Bruno Baumann’s pionering journey to the Taklamakan and the publication of this classic book in several languages, Odiseo Publications will launch the first translation in English both as an ebook and printed book.
In 1895, the Swedish explorer Sven Hedin became the first to cross the interior of the most hostile desert in Central Asia. In his bestselling books about the experience, he claimed that two of the five members of the expedition had died of thirst. But famous adventurer and writer Bruno Baumann doubted Hedin story.
In April 2000, the Austrian-born adventurer set out to retrace the famous explorer’s route through the heart of the Taklamakan. Baumann hoped to recover remains of Hedin’s “Camp of Death,” and learn the truth behind the ill-fated expedition. But the journey across the sand sea didn’t quite go as planned.
The admirers of classic exploration stories, and especially Sven Hedin adventures will enjoy the way Baumann masterfully intertwines Hedin story with his own tragedy in one of the most dangerous deserts on earth.

VANESSA MARTÍN QUINTANA
Freelance editor, translator and writer born in the Canary Islands, Spain. She started traveling, mainly to Asia, while working in Munich, Germany, as a graphic designer for multimedia projects on adventure and travel in the Himalaya, Central Asia and the world deserts. She also went on tours working a roadie, as she likes to describe it, for those shows presented all over German-speaking countries, and in her trips to Asia, she worked as a photography and camera assistant to help create footage for them. In doing so, she learned all the processes involving the travel narrative.
She holds a BA in Translation and Interpreting in the languages of English and German and, as a professional, a way to connect the dots between this bohemian life and the academic one was to combine her experiences with further studies on journalism, storytelling, and Southeast Asian culture.
At ODISEO, she is the publisher, editor-in-chief and one of the translators.

TIMO KURVI
Born in Michigan, United States, from Finnish parents, he graduated in Theatre and Anthropology from Michigan State University and earned a Masters in Theatre from the Theatre Academy of Helsinki. His dual nationality and bilingualism always made him feel as an outsider in search of self-expression and both disciplines were ways to deal with foreign cultures and communication. He had a long spanned career as a theatre actor, dancer and singer both in New York and Finland until 2012, in which he arrived in Pune, India, to study in the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute where his mentor B.K.S. Iyengar has taught for most of his life. The impact of that experience was so strong that he decided to change his life direction and become a full-time Iyengar teacher.
Studying and performing classic playwriting and musicals for more than 20 years taught him about language, character and rhythm which he used to work as an English editor for the book Nyma.
